Biography

Agostino Bonalumi was born July 10, 1935 Vimercate, Milan.
He studied the technical and mechanical drawing. Self-taught painter, he began to exhibit the group born 1958 giovanissimo.Nel Bonalumi Castellani and Manzoni with an exhibition at the Galleria in Milan Pater, to be followed by other exhibitions in Rome, Milan and Lausanne. In 1961 the Gallery Kasper is one of the founders of Lausanne of the "New European School". Arturo Schwarz bought his works and in 1965 presented a solo exhibition in his gallery of Bonalumi of Milan, with presentation in the catalog Dorfles. In 1966 he began a long collaboration with Galleria del Naviglio in Milan that will represent the exclusive publishing in 1973, for editions of the waterway, a comprehensive monograph by Dorfles.In 1966 he was invited to the Venice Biennale with a group of works, and in 1970 with a solo. A period of study and work in the Mediterranean countries of Africa and the United States where he will present a solo exhibition at Gallery Bonino in New York. In 1967 he was invited to the Biennale of Sao Paulo Biennale in 1968 and Youth in Paris.
In 1980 by the Region of Lombardy is staged at the Palazzo Te in Mantua, a large exhibition that illustral'intero arc of his work, by Flavio Caroli Dorfles. In 2003 the Institut in Darmstadt Matildenhöhe "Augustine Bonalumi Malerei in der dritten-dimension", curated by Stefano Fumagalli.
